Reader Questions About Dating in Ukraine

Reader JT recently commented on the posts about Odessa and Kiev nightlife. He had the following questions:

  • Do you notice any difference between the women of Kiev vs. Odessa?
  • Is Kiev any less humid?
  • Are there any good laid back “bar-bars” or pubs in Kiev for just shooting pool and relaxing? If so, what are some good ones?

While I wrote some comments back on the posts themselves, it’s probably worth expanding a little bit more on the topics overall.

Do you notice any difference between the women of Kiev vs. Odessa?

Definitely there are more girls in sheer quantity in Kiev. And their English is much, much better. So that’s something important to keep in mind off of the bat.

As far as how they look—I think Odessa tends to have more tan skin. The “olive complexion” so to speak. That’s natural considering it’s a beach town. However, it’s not a huge difference. I do think that a higher percentage of Odessa girls seem to get dressed up and walk the streets in heels as compared to Kiev. But, that’s just a percentage. Again, Kiev has Odessa beat as far as sheer quantity of girls walking around.

Odessa girls also wear dresses more—again—beach town.

Final note: Odessa is a weird place that is definitely scam-happy.

A lot of Ukrainian brides come out of Odessa.

The people there just don’t hesitate to rip you off. It’s got much more of a gold-digger vibe where everything is a transaction.

Is Kiev any less humid?

Yes, significantly so. It was 100 degrees in July this year, but it was bearable. I was still out and about and actually ziplined across the Dnipro River that day. It was hot, but I wasn’t dripping sweat within minutes of walking out the door.

For those of you who haven’t been, Odessa’s climate strongly resembles a place like Miami in the summer months. Always hot and humid. Sticky.

Are there any good laid back “bar-bars” or pubs in Kiev for just shooting pool and relaxing? If so, what are some good ones?

This place is AWESOME …but it’s way out in the boonies. Kharkivska metro stop.

As far as in the center, you could try the bowling alley in Gulliver. It’s nice.

Pool halls, not many. Maybe one, can’t remember and Google isn’t showing up. As far as hanging…the cafes are the place to be. You can also try “The Bar” at Arena City for pre-night drinks.

There’s not much though.

In any case, thanks for writing in, JT!

Kyle,
(Or Kyle’s Girl) Is there some sort of standardized testing in Ukraine associated with university admission that is a reasonable proxy for IQ? Something similar to SAT/ACT in the US. If so, what is it, how is it scored, and what scores/grades would be associated with relative IQs? If a woman was 85-95 IQ, very unlikely to go college, what score would that be? 95-105, an average IQ, but still not likely, 110-120 most college attendees, 125+ IQ, very likely to go to college, and an elite one.

Thank you in advance.

Hey man so I asked her. They take the ZNO. It’s math, English language, and Ukrainian language. Maybe one more I can’t remember.

    Nothing to correlate to IQ.

Minimum pass for university admission is 120/200. She said people who score that are basically retarded.

She’s above average intelligence and scored 180.
