How to Find Cheap Flights to Ukraine

Ukraine seems far away on paper, but there are so many cheap flights to Ukraine from all over Europe. It’s surprisingly easy to get here. This is assuming you are flying to Kiev. Getting to other cities is not a walk in the park. But we’ll cover that later.

In a nutshell, if you’re coming internationally–you’ll probably need to come through Kiev. Here is a list of airlines that fly to and from Kiev Borispol Airport (click here to read the guide on how to transit from KBP to the city center).

Column 1 is the airline, column 2 is the destination, column 3 is the terminal at KBP (which you can ignore).

I’ve gone through and highlighted some of the best ones in orange–meaning they are generally the cheapest and have the most availability from a major city.

The Rundown Regarding Cheap Flights to Ukraine

Here’s how the flights to Ukraine work, in general. Keep in mind that many of these opinions are that of the author and other expats in Ukraine.

  • Ukraine Airlines is actually not too bad, and they’re cheap. They also hardly ever raise or decrease their prices. They will be the same two days out from a flight versus two months.
  • From Western Europe, KLM is often a popular choice because a lot of things connect via Amsterdam. It’s a pretty affordable flight.
  • All of the budget airlines are hit and miss, as far as safety, cost, etc. Rest assured you will be nickel and dimed to death on your baggage on the super cheap airlines.
  • A lot of the well known cheap airlines DO NOT fly to Kiev; i.e. Ryanair, EasyJet, WizzAir, etc.

To find cheap flights to Ukraine, I’d strongly recommend using Google Flights. If you want to be adventurous and book one of the smaller airlines, you’ll likely have to look on their individual websites.

Your best bet is to start with locations such as London, Amsterdam, Warsaw, or Istanbul (among others), and search for flights from those cities to Kiev. Often times, it may be cheaper to get yourself to that major city and book a second flight to Kiev as opposed to trying to fly from a smaller European city.

For example, it’s better to book a $70 flight to Amsterdam from Newcastle, UK and then another $70 flight to Kiev as opposed to booking a $400 one way flight on the same airline. Sometimes it works out weird.

There are lots of cheap flights to Ukraine, if you know where to look. Do your research, be prepared to maybe have to jump through a few hoops–but it’s more than possible.
